RULES

Eligibility
  • Our competitions are open to both amateur and professional photographers over the age of 18.

  • Individuals or persons directly connected (deemed as partners and family) with judges or competition organisers are not eligible to enter.

Entry Submissions and guidelines
  • Entrants are permitted to submit as many images to each competition as they wish.

  • Competitions are run monthly throughout the year and are run back-to-back.

  • Submissions must be in JPEG format, saved at a minimum quality of 8 - Scans of transparencies/negatives are eligible.

  • Images should be a saved at 1920 pixels on their longest side. Click here for help if you're unsure on how to process your images to meet our guidelines.

  • Entrants are permitted to make basic adjustments to images that do not alter the contents of an image, such as - exposure, contrast, levels, noise reduction, dust removal, cropping, dodging and burning etc. 

  • Adjustments such as adding or removing objects to images, sky replacements and composites are not permitted

Ethics
  • Images of domestic pets or farm animals are not permitted, however images of captive species are allowed but must be declared in the description of the image.

  • Image captions detailing locations/species must be true and accurate if provided.

  • It is the duty of all photographers to obtain any necessary licenses needed to pilot drones if used and adhere to laws surrounding their use.

  • It is the duty of all photographers to obtain any necessary licenses needed to photograph protected or vulnerable species and abide by all laws regarding disturbance to wildlife.

  • We do not condone the practice of live baiting and images created using this technique are prohibited.

Judging
  • An appointed judge will be presented a shortlist of images to award prizes to the winner and runner-up, taking in to account the composition, originality and creativity of images.

  • Judges may also decide to award any number of images a 'highly commended' award which will be displayed in each competition's Winner's gallery.

  • Winners and highly commended participants will be notified of their success within 2 weeks of a competition closing.

  • An image that was previously won a cash prizes in any of our previous competitions can not be entered again.

  • An image that receives a 'highly commended' award can be entered again in to future competitions.

Prize Money
  • All prize money is generated from entry fees we receive from participants and 50% of all income is used as prize money in each competition.

  • Prize money will be awarded to the named person on the entry form.

  • Winners will be contacted by the email address provided on their entry submissions and will have 30 days from the day they are notified of their success to provide valid payment details. If no details are provided, prize money will be forfeited.

  • All prize money will be paid via PayPal - any fees induced for foreign currency conversions are the responsibility of the recipient.

  • The percentage of the prize money each winner will receive is as follows:

  • Winner - 35%

  • Runner-up - 15%

Copyright and Liability

​By submitting images to our competitions you agree that:

  • You are the original creator and copyright holder of any image(s) submitted.

  • Images submitted do not breach any third party intellectual property rights, trademarks, or contract rights.

  • You have relevant model release documents and the permission of any persons included in submitted images. You also have the permission of any parents/guardians for any persons under the age of 18 shown in your images.

  • You will be responsible for any claims made by third party organisations regarding any legal breaches made against any of your entries, and grant WILD Photo Awards and associated persons full indemnity in respect of all royalties, compensation and legal fees which may occur as a result of any breaches you have made.

WILD Photo Awards reserves the right to disqualify any entries at any point in time that breach any of the rules mentioned above, as well as report any potential legal breaches to appropriate authorities. 

Rights to Use
  • By entering images in to our competitions you agree that any entry that receives a winning or highly commended award may be used, without compensation, for promotional purposes of future WILD Photo Awards competitions.

  • WILD Photos Awards does not make any claims to the copyright of any submissions to our competitions

  • You grant WILD Photo Awards a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable license for all competition entries to be used, displayed, published, edited or sub-licensed for any purposes connected to our competitions. All images will be credited to the photographer when used.

Liability
  • Proof of entry submission to a competition is not deemed as proof of receipt.

  • It is the responsibility of all entrants to ensure that their email security settings accept emails from any email addresses associated with WILD Photo Awards. 

  • Entries that do not receive a competition award will not be stored by us.

  • Except where stated elsewhere, WILD Photo Awards will not be liable for any loss or damages suffered by you in relation to our competitions, the use of your entry or the use of any prize money awarded. This exclusion includes, but is not limited to, any liability for the misuse of any entries by third parties.

Data Protection
  • Personal data that is necessary for the running of our competitions will be collected about you at the time of registration. We will not pass on your personal details to any third party, but it may be used to contact you about any future WILD Photo Awards competitions.

Law and Jurisdiction
  • The rules outlined here in relation to running our competitions shall be governed in accordance to the laws of England and Wales.
